I've had a quick flick though the Strategy, and noted a couple of amusing spelling mistakes along the way "Bard members" and "The Traingle". They make some good points, but all the artists' impressions seem to me to be based along the possibility of demolishing the entire town centre and rebuilding it. Not that I've got anything against that, I just don't think it's feasible. On an entirely smug note, I look at some... |

"there are 3 employees in the team and 2½ will be transferred" I'd hate to be that third person - ouch. Interesting that you mention the "Wyre Forest Car Parking Review" with the notice in this week's Shuttle; I've gone into more depth elsewhere about an oddity listed there. The joke with the stealth Unitary council is that I can see us transferring... |

| Being the hotbed of the gaming industry that is very relevant to Wyre Forest... NOT! I would be interesting to see a list of his directorships. | |

| Oops my mistake mixing dative and accusative "We give thanks for today" would be Gratiis Hodie Agimus, 'Gratias' would indeed be "We give thanks today". | |

Well you know me, blithely stating that 'it's the law' or whatnot without specifying which is like a flapping thing to a horned animal

I read it as, "We give thanks for today", 'gratias' is the plural accusative of 'gratia', with it being applied to 'hodie' 'Agimus' is the first person plural of 'ago'. I'm surprised a translation didn't know that, it's common enough. |

You are wrong on one point Tav, ALL the BSF projects in Worcestershire were in Wyre Forest. I don't know how you thought two weren't. And I guess Ricardo is right too. Of course Mark wasn't consulted, he's a back bench MP aka "cannon fodder"! Wyre Forest Schemes were lost because we were still months away from a final bidder and about 1 year away from financial... |

| Having declared for Parliament in the English Civil War, Kidderminster had an active Republican Society which used to have Annual Picnics during Victorian Times. | |

As to location a map of the Mason Road location appears as part of a Kidderminster Civic Society document (page 3) dated 1885 and doesn't seem to show a structure. Then again it is a bit close to the date so it depends on when the survey was done compared to when the map was published. However if one of those photos happened to show the fish pond that would be a firm indicator. Shame there isn't an online historical map section on the Hub as there is for Stourport. |

Keith (off Flickr) I think you have looked in the wrong place. The fountain was situated on Blakebrook Green at the bottom of Bewdley Hill near to the hospital. On the map (below) I believe it was where Blakebrook meets Bewdley Hill. Move a couple of yards forward into the road as it is now and that's more or less where it could have been. |

So as you said either it's stuck at the back of some council building, it's being stored privately for which the council may be paying costs for, or it's been sold or otherwise disposed of. I'm betting it was stuck in storage for a while until forgotten about several councils down the line and then got rid of. I suppose the same unanswered question goes for the concrete frieze that was above the entrance to the Swan Centre though that is a private matter. |

Wow Tav that's some drinking fountain! Great old photos. ...superb Victorian structure, thanks for the info. Being interested in the way places used to look and what they are like now, I've just had a look on Google Earth at this junction. I can't understand why they removed this fountain, there's the police station on the one corner, yards away from the road and nothing on the other corners. It seems to have been pointless to remove a fantastic structure and ornate fencing???> ...ain't that typical of powers that be, quieten the objectors by saying they will do something at a later date... ...then, do sod all. |

Where have they all gone?"
